Fansly's 20% platform fee, explained (and what you actually take home)
Fansly takes 20% of every dollar that flows through the platform — subscriptions, tips, PPV, and custom content. The payout calculator strips that out and shows you the number that actually hits your bank account. Here is how it works and the edge cases most creators miss.
How the 20% is applied
It's 20% of the gross transaction, not 20% of your monthly revenue. So a $10 subscription becomes $8.00 net; a $25 PPV becomes $20.00; a $50 tip becomes $40.00. The math is per-transaction, not aggregated.
What counts as gross (everything)
Subscriptions, tips, PPV messages, PPV feed posts, custom content payments, stream tips, and pay-to-unlock posts all have the same 20% rate. There is no preferred-creator discount and no volume tier — every creator is at 20% regardless of size.
What you don't pay extra for
Unlike some platforms, Fansly does not charge a separate payout fee, a withdrawal fee, or a currency conversion fee on top of the 20%. If your bank charges a wire-receive fee that's on your bank, not Fansly. International creators on direct deposit see the full 80% land.
How to compare Fansly's 20% to other platforms
OnlyFans is also 20%. LoyalFans is 15%. Fanvue is 20% with a 5% transaction fee for some payment methods. For most US/EU creators, the difference is dominated by which platform actually has fans in your niche — chasing the 5% difference is rarely worth migrating a fanbase.
FAQ
Is Fansly's 20% before or after VAT?
For most creators outside the EU, the 20% is the only deduction. EU/UK creators may also see VAT deducted in some cases — check your specific payout statement for jurisdiction-specific rules.
Does Fansly take 20% of tips?
Yes. Tips count as gross revenue and have the same 20% fee as subscriptions and PPV.
How fast does Fansly pay out?
Fansly pays out daily for verified creators after a brief holding period for new accounts (typically 7 days). OnlyFans is monthly with a longer hold — that's usually a bigger deal than the fee percentage.
