OnlyFans Tax Estimator
Estimate income tax and self-employment tax on your OnlyFans earnings (US).
Frequently asked questions
Do OnlyFans creators pay taxes?
Yes. OnlyFans and Fansly earnings are self-employment income. You owe federal income tax, state income tax (in most states), and 15.3% self-employment tax on net business income. OnlyFans issues a 1099 if you earn $600+ annually.
What is self-employment tax?
Self-employment tax is Social Security (12.4%) + Medicare (2.9%) = 15.3% on 92.35% of your net business income. You pay it in addition to regular income tax. Half of it is deductible from your taxable income.
What can content creators deduct?
Camera, lighting, phone (business-use %), internet (business-use %), home-studio rent %, costumes/props, editing software, DMCA takedown services, platform fees paid, accounting software, and professional services. Keep receipts.
Should I make quarterly tax payments?
Yes, if you expect to owe $1,000+ in taxes. Quarterly estimated payments to the IRS are due Apr 15, Jun 15, Sep 15, Jan 15. Missing them triggers penalty interest. Most CPAs recommend saving 25–30% of every payout in a separate account.
Do I need an LLC or S-Corp?
Not for most creators. An LLC adds liability protection but no tax savings by default. S-Corp election can save 7–10% on self-employment tax once you earn $60K+ net, but requires payroll and adds complexity. Talk to a CPA before forming either.
